What if a photographic image is the beginning place?

A camera is a tool. No more or less than a pencil or brush.

If the eye and the camera follow feeling, not tradition, if the image is the beginning of the creative process, not the end as a picture, a final print is open to a viewers personal journey, with many maps and edges to fall off and explore creatively.

Creativity is the spark that lights the way, that connects mystery and imagination to the everyday world. No matter what medium, the beginning place is the heart and spirit of any work.

I began with paint.
Pouring and blending across loose canvas, watching for hours as oil and water based color collided, ran, pooled.

Photography did not make sense till I stepped back to that beginning place, where accident, layers, chance blending, abstract mark making leave each final print as the marker point on the map always being created.
You never stand still, you never repeat the same mark.
